Activities
2 Barremman cottage is conveniently located just a 20 minute drive from the stunning Loch Lomond and a 60 minute drive from the vibrant city of Glasgow. Closer to home you can find a range of activities for all ages, including hikes over the Rosneath Peninsula, ferries across Loch Long to Gourock and Dunoon, and wild swimming in Gare Loch. Take a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life and explore the beauty of Scotland's wild outdoors.

Walking Rosneath Peninsula
2 Barremman Cottage is situated on the edge of a forestry track, leading intrepid explorers through dense woodland onto the ridge of the Rosneath Peninsula, where a stunning lookout offers the perfect pincic spot and spectacular views over Loch Long.
From here a wide, well-marked track takes you South toward the charming village of Kilcreggan with its cafes and antique shops, or inland toward Garelochead.

Visit Glasgow
The cultural hub of Glasgow is only a 60 minute drive away, with a wide range of galleries, museums and live music venues.
Visit the iconic Glasgow Cathedral, stroll through the vibrant city centre with its collection of quirky shops and restaurants, or take a stroll along the banks of the River Clyde and admire the stunning Victorian architecture.

Waverley Steamer
Why not book a trip on the world's last seagoing paddle steamer from our nearby village of Kilcreggan?
Launched in 1946, Waverley has been sailing for over 75 years, and offers lunch, drinks and tea with an unforgettable view.
She now tours the coasts of the UK, so keep an eye on her timetables to see when she's back on her native Loch Long.

Wild Swimming
Take the plunge and slip into the salty waters of Gare Loch. With a tidal pebble beach just across the road from the entrance to our track, you can enjoy a serene dip before strolling back to the cottage for a cup of tea and a hot shower.
Gare Loch is home to a vast array of wildlife, including curlews, oyster catchers, and on occasion seals and porpoises - so keep your eyes peeled!

Eating Out
The friendly villages of the Rosneath Peninsula provide a range of dining options.
We love the Rhu Inn in Rhu for a pub meal, the Creggans in Kilcreggan for delicious fish and chips, and The Perch at Garelochead for a locally sourced lunch, breakfast or tea.
Further afield, try the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar on the way to Inverary, or the Village Inn at Arrochar.

Inverary
Just an hour's scenic drive from 2 Barremman Cottage is Inverary, a charming fishing village on the banks of Loch Fyne, tucked beneath a fairy tale castle full of history.
Inverary Castle has an amazing armoury, and is set in stunning grounds with walking trails to the tower of Dun Na Cuaiche, which boasts views over the castle, town and loch.

Loch Lomond & the Trossachs
A 20 minute drive through breathtaking scenery takes you to the bonny banks of Loch Lomond. In the summer you can rent a rowing boat or join a boat tour or sea plane flight from the charming village of Luss.
If the mountains are calling you, Loch Lomond is the perfect starting place, with the mighty Ben Lomond and Ben More accessible from the shoreline, as well as easier climbs like Ben Dubh.

Helensburgh
The nearby town of Helensburgh was home to the internationally recognised Scottish architect Cameron Rennie Mackintosh, and a visit to his home "Hill House" is a must.
Helensburgh is also the gateway to outward-bounds activities, including the Argyll Kayak Trail, the Wild About Argyll Cycling Trail, the John Muir Way and the Three Lochs Way.

Climbing the Cobbler
If outward-bound adventure is on your South Highlands wishlist, you'll find plenty of it in the breathtaking Arrochar Alps.
These dramatic mountains are home to the iconic Ben Arthur, known as The Cobbler. With three peaks and a well maintained path, it's a great challenge for walkers of all levels. Don't forget to "thread the needle" at the top!
